UTS Students Receive Mitsubishi Corporation Kuala Lumpur International Scholarship
SIBU: Five students from University of Technology Sarawak (UTS) have been selected as recipients of the fourth cohort of the Mitsubishi Corporation Kuala Lumpur (MC KUL) International Scholarship.
Acting Vice-Chancellor of UTS Professor Ir Dr Mohammad Shahril Osman said the scholarship not only helps ease students’ financial burdens, but also serves as an important platform in shaping their academic and professional success.
According to him, a total of 20 UTS students have benefited from the initiative to date, with several going on to achieve notable success in both their studies and careers.
“The achievements of previous recipients clearly show that access to education and sustained support can transform students’ lives and pave the way for a brighter future,” he said.
He said this while speaking at the MC KUL International Scholarship Presentation Ceremony 2026 held at the UTS campus on Thursday.
He noted that scholarships such as the MC KUL initiative play a vital role in enabling students to focus fully on their studies while actively participating in campus life without the added strain of financial pressure.
The five scholarship recipients are Abigail Hii Beng Ching, Charles Sibat Frederick Ganing, Karen Kho Yen Sing, Irene Ling Hsin Yi and Wendy Teong We Teng.
Also present at the ceremony were MC KUL General Manager Kosuke Makino, MC KUL Deputy Head of Administration Department Riki Mochida, MC KUL Deputy Head of Human Resources Department Juliana Hamzah, MC KUL Assistant Manager of Administration Department Shafura Ariff and UTS Centre for Student Development and Services Director Lu Yew King. -UKASnews
