Sarawak Budget 2026 Strengthens Financial Position & Supports Household Economy
KUCHING: The Sarawak Budget 2026 is seen as a reflection of the state’s strong financial management, demonstrating a position that remains stable and well-structured to support ongoing development.
Batu Kitang Assemblyman, Dato Ir Lo Khere Chiang, said the budget places clear emphasis on increasing the disposable income of Sarawakians, particularly through the introduction of free education.
“Education has always been a burden for the people, especially for parents. This initiative will significantly ease that burden.
“With this, families will no longer need to allocate their net income for school fees. It will increase their daily disposable income,” he said when met by Sarawak Public Communications Unit (UKAS) on Wednesday.
Meanwhile, Bukit Semuja Assemblyman, John Ilus, said the latest budget places strong focus on development and community wellbeing in rural areas.
“Community wellbeing means ensuring that people, particularly low-income groups in the rural areas, have at least something on the table every day.
“Increases in assistance such as SKAS, for example, is one of the initiatives that I believe will deliver positive impact to rural residents,” he said.
The people of Sarawak are therefore encouraged to make full use of the opportunities provided, support the government’s development efforts, and continue prioritising the overall wellbeing of the state. -UKASnews
