Schools Urged To Strengthen Quran Education For The Next Generation
SADONG JAYA: Encouraging early mastery of Quranic literacy is essential to shaping disciplined, knowledgeable and spiritually grounded young learners.
Simunjan Assemblyman Awla Dris said early exposure is vital as children absorb lessons more quickly, while Quranic fluency becomes harder to achieve as one grows older.
“The Quran is described as a companion for life. It wants us to constantly open and read it so that our fluency remains,” he said when officiating the SK Haji Bujang Rangawan Putin Khatam Al-Quran Ceremony on Saturday.
He reminded students that consistent reading strengthens mastery, noting that skills may diminish if not practised regularly.
Awla also encouraged students to balance their Quran learning with academic studies, stressing that both form crucial foundations as they progress to secondary school and beyond.
He added that Quranic knowledge serves as lifelong guidance, especially when students later move away from home, study elsewhere or begin their adult journey.
Awla expressed appreciation to teachers, ustaz and ustazah for their dedication in guiding students to complete their recitation, describing the school as fortunate to have committed educators.
“Opportunities like this are valuable because finding Quran teachers in villages today has become increasingly challenging,” he said.
Attended by 100 people, the ceremony celebrated the achievement of 36 Year Six students who successfully completed their Khatam Al-Quran.
Also present were Headmaster Hasiah Gidir, Muhamad Zulfikri Ibrahim representing the Samarahan District Education Officer, PIBG chairman Sapiee Hanapi, invited guests, parents and the school community. -UKASnews
