'Sarawak Is Truly My Second Home' - Tengku Ampuan Pahang
KUCHING: "Truly, Sarawak has become my second home, and you are all like my cousins.
"This is not just friendship; this is a long and joyous bond of affection between Pahang and Sarawak, two states united by heritage, respect, and love."
These were the words of Her Royal Highness, Tengku Ampuan Pahang, Tunku Azizah Aminah Maimunah Iskandariah Almarhum Sultan Iskandar Al-Haj, during the official opening of the Borneo International Textile Festival (BiTF) 2025 Seminar, here on Monday.
According to Her Royal Highness, the warm hospitality of the Sarawak people makes every visit feel like returning to her own home, where she is celebrated and welcomed with great affection.
Furthermore, Her Royal Highness stated that this visit was not made in her capacity as a member of the Pahang Royal Family, but as a student seeking to learn the rich and unique heritage arts of Sarawak.
"And that is why I truly feel humbled when Sarawak asks me to lead or to inspire. In reality, I am the student here, because Sarawak is a 'library' of crafts, and I am merely opening page after page, viewing them with profound gratitude.
"You honour me by accepting my presence in your world of heritage, but truthfully, you are my teachers.
"Therefore, please do not view me as a leader standing at the front; view me as a student sitting alongside all of you," Her Royal Highness added.
She further expressed that Sarawak's readiness to assist Pahang in promoting the cultural uniqueness, handicrafts, and arts of both states is greatly appreciated and is hoped to continue as a bridge connecting this established friendship.
Also present was the Deputy Minister for Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts Sarawak, Datuk Snowdan Lawan, representing the Minister for Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts Sarawak, along with other distinguished guests. - UKASnews
