Sarawak Premier Begins Official Working Visit to China
NANJING: The Sarawak Premier, Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri (Dr) Abang Abdul Rahman Zohari Tun Datuk Abang Openg, has arrived safely in Nanjing to begin his four-day official working visit to China, which starts today.
He touched down at 4.50 pm local time, accompanied by PETROS Chairman Tan Sri Datuk Amar (Dr) Hamid Bugo.
They were welcomed by the Deputy Minister for Utility (Sarawak Energy Berhad and PETROS), Datuk Ibrahim Baki, PETROS Group Chief Executive Officer Dato Janin Girie, and other members of the PETROS delegation.
The visit commenced with an engagement session with the Jiangsu Provincial People’s Government at the Xikang Guesthouse in Nanjing on Thursday.
Following the meeting, the Premier and his delegation will witness the signing of a Framework Agreement and a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between PETROS and the China Jiangsu International Economic and Technical Cooperation Group Ltd (CJI) at CJI’s Headquarters in Nanjing.
The third day of the visit will focus on a series of high-impact sessions at the Suzhou Industrial Park (SIP), one of China’s most successful hubs for industrial development, technology and innovation.
The Premier is scheduled to receive a development briefing at the Exhibition Hall and One Stop Centre, followed by an official meeting with the SIP Administrative Committee.
He will also tour several prominent companies operating within the area to gain firsthand insight into their operations.
SIP is renowned for its strong ecosystem in smart manufacturing, automation and high-tech research, and it serves as a valuable reference point for Sarawak as it works towards advancing a technology-driven and green-energy-based economic model, in line with the state’s development ambitions.
The Premier is expected to return home on Saturday after completing the itinerary in Nanjing and Suzhou. -UKASnews
