ACG Concert To Make International History In Kuching
KUCHING: Global dance phenomenon from Japan, Avantgardey, will make their debut in Borneo as the headliner in a large-scale orchestral concert, The ACG Symphony, which will take place at Stadium Perpaduan, Petra Jaya on 31 January 2026.
The concert, organised by The Band Lab (Kuching Wind Orchestra Association), is expected to be the largest full-orchestra Anime, Comics and Games (ACG) concert ever held in Borneo, featuring a combination of 60 orchestra musicians, professional singers, dancers and a 50-member choir from Dolce Chanticleer.
Supported by the Sarawak Ministry of Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts, the organisation of this latest edition marks a significant evolution following the success of An Anime Symphony in 2023 and An ACG Symphony in 2024, thus elevating Kuching as an international entertainment and cultural destination.
Avantgardey, a group of 17 female dancers from Japan who have achieved global recognition as finalists on America’s Got Talent and Vogue Japan’s “Persons of the Year”, are known for their unique uniform choreography, retro costumes and iconic bob hairstyles, and will be collaborating live with the orchestra in a high-energy performance in Sarawak.
The Band Lab President, Jesmond Siew, said Avantgardey’s presence reflects Kuching’s growing influence as a regional cultural hub, while also opening up a space for the exchange of Japanese contemporary art with local audiences.
The two-hour concert will take the audience on a journey through the soundtracks of world-famous anime including Naruto, Haikyuu, Demon Slayer and iconic Studio Ghibli works such as My Neighbour Totoro, Spirited Away, Howl’s Moving Castle and Suzume, supported by cinematic lighting designs and modern pyrotechnic effects.
The organisers also encourage fans to come in cosplay costumes to liven up the concert atmosphere and make the audience part of the “Beyond Epic” experience that is being showcased.
Early Bird tickets are offered until 31 December 2025 and are available exclusively through Ticket2U. - UKASnews
