119 Recipients Receive RM6.5 Million Compensation For Lubok Punggor AgriHub Project
GEDONG: A total of 119 recipients received compensation checks totaling RM6.5 million for the implementation of the Lubok Punggor AgriHub development project which is expected to strengthen the modern agricultural sector in the Gedong area.
The handover of the compensation checks was officiated by Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri (Dr) Abang Abdul Rahman Zohari Tun Datuk Abang Openg in conjunction with the Gedong District Breaking of Fast Event held at the Al-Khawtar Mosque, here on Sunday.
The presentation of the compensation reflects the Sarawak Government's continued commitment to ensuring the implementation of the development project can be implemented smoothly while also safeguarding the welfare of landowners involved in the development of the AgriHub.
The Lubok Punggor AgriHub development project involves the construction of a warehouse and machinery workshop, a water reservoir as well as work to build and upgrade the irrigation and drainage system in the area.
At the same event, the asnaf group also received contributions when 10 recipients representing about 300 other recipients received assistance totaling RM10,000 from the Sarawak Premier's Office, RM50,000 from the Land Conservation and Development Authority (LCDA) and RM30,000 from Bank Rakyat.
In addition, RM61,000 was also distributed to 26 check recipients under the Minor Rural Project (MRP) allocation involving representatives of mosques and suraus in the area to support the implementation of various religious and community activities.
At the event, the Sarawak Premier also performed the obligatory Maghrib prayer and broke fast with the local community in an atmosphere full of camaraderie in conjunction with the month of Ramadan.
Also present were Sarawak Secretary Datuk Amar Mohamad Abu Bakar Marzuki, Deputy Sarawak Secretary (Economic Planning and Development) Dato Sri Dr Muhammad Abdullah Zaidel, Deputy Minister for Infrastructure and Port Development Datuk Ir. Aidel Lariwoo, Advisor (SME) to the Ministry for International Trade, Industry and Investment (MINTRED) Dato Sri Mohd Naroden Majais, Batang Sadong Member of Parliament Rodiyah Sapiee, Simunjan Assemblyman Awla Dris, and other guests. -UKASnews
