SEDC Channels Over RM50,000 To Support Three Tahfiz Institutions, Strengthening Community Development
KUCHING: The Sarawak Economic Development Corporation (SEDC) continues to reinforce community development by channelling contributions exceeding RM50,000 to 190 Tahfiz students from three Islamic educational institutions in the state in conjunction with a breaking of fast event with the Sarawak Governor.
The event, held at the Grand Margherita Hotel, was graced by the presence of the Sarawak Governor, Tun Pehin Sri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar, together with his wife, Toh Puan Datuk Patinggi Fauziah Mohd Sanusi.
The programme formed part of SEDC’s corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiative, which emphasises community welfare and continuous support for Islamic educational institutions in Sarawak.
Also present were SEDC Chairman Tan Sri Datuk Amar (Dr) Abdul Aziz Husain, members of the Sarawak Cabinet, SEDC Board members, heads of departments, and the agency’s senior management.
During the event, SEDC presented contributions to three Tahfiz institutions, namely Madrasah Tahfiz Al-Hannah (MADTAH), Madrasah Darul Uloom Islamiyyah, and Pondok Hidayatul Mubtadi-ien Wa Tahfizul Al-Quran.
The contributions included basic equipment as well as kitchen necessities to support the daily operations of the institutions while also improving the welfare of their students.
The initiative reflects SEDC’s ongoing commitment to supporting community development, particularly in the field of Islamic education, which plays an important role in nurturing knowledgeable, morally grounded and competitive future generations.
At the same time, the breaking of fast event also served as a platform to strengthen ties between the state leadership, the corporate sector and Islamic educational institutions, in line with the spirit of Ramadan that emphasises compassion, togetherness and the sharing of blessings within the community. -UKASnews
