Simanggang Assemblyman Visits Family Of Taman Sentosa Indah Fire Victims
SIMANGGANG: In the emotional aftermath of a fire tragedy that claimed two lives, including a child, the family of the victims from Taman Sentosa Indah received a visit and support from Simanggang Assemblyman Datuk Francis Harden Hollis on Sunday.
The Deputy Minister for Education, Innovation and Talent Development visited the victims’ family and presented a bereavement contribution to the next of kin to help ease the burden following the tragedy.
The meeting with one of the family members, Dayang Siti Mahfuzah Mohd Sanwani, took place at the Sri Aman Government Rest House at around 11.30 am.
When met by reporters, Datuk Francis said the fire incident that occurred at Taman Sentosa Indah in the early morning of 7 March claimed the lives of the youngest child and his father, who later died while receiving treatment at Sarawak General Hospital.
“Therefore, the Sri Aman District Malay Community Association of Community Leaders and Village Chiefs (KMKK), through me, has contributed RM700 in bereavement assistance to Dayang as the next of kin,” he said.
Datuk Francis expressed hope that Dayang’s family would benefit from the assistance provided while also calling on more parties to come forward to extend contributions to the family.
According to him, such efforts can help foster a stronger sense of togetherness among the local community while assisting the family to recover from the tragedy.
Dauk Francis added that apart from financial aid, moral support from the community is equally important in helping to ease the emotional burden faced by the family of the fire victims. -UKASnews
