New Road Connecting Matang-Batu Kawa To Emart Roundabout Proposed
KUCHING: The proposed construction of a new road connecting Jalan Matang-Batu Kawa directly to the Emart Roundabout is among the key development priorities that will continue to be pursued in Tupong.
Chief Political Secretary to the Sarawak Premier Dato Fazzrudin Abdul Rahman said the proposed road is crucial in addressing traffic congestion which remains one of the main challenges faced by residents in the area.
“I have submitted the request and will continue to follow up on the matter to ensure the project is approved for the benefit of the community in N.6 Tupong,” he said when met by reporters during his Aidilfitri Open House held at Dewan Hikmah, Petra Jaya on Tuesday.
The Tupong Assemblyman said although Jalan Matang continues to be upgraded and widened, the measure alone may not fully resolve congestion issues if traffic flow is not diversified.
Meanwhile, Dato Fazzrudin said development in the Tupong area will be implemented continuously to ensure the needs of the people are always met.
According to him, development in the area is implemented based on three main approaches, namely providing new facilities, monitoring existing facilities, and upgrading infrastructure that has long been in use.
Also present were Sarawak Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Professor Dr Sim Kui Hian, Minister for Youth, Sports and Entrepreneur Development Dato Sri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah, Sarawak Secretary Datuk Amar Mohamad Abu Bakar Marzuki, Deputy Minister for Utility (Sarawak Energy and PETROS) Datuk Ibrahim Baki, Deputy Minister in the Sarawak Premier's Department (Law, MA63 and State-Federal Relations) Datuk Sharifah Hasidah Sayeed Aman Ghazali and heads of departments. -UKASnews
