Deputy Sarawak Secretary Leads Factory Visit To Explore Innovative Construction Materials For Infrastructure Development
IPOH: Deputy Sarawak Secretary (Economic Planning and Development) Dato Sri Dr Muhammad Abdullah Zaidel today led a delegation for an official visit to Dura Factory (DURA) in Chemor, Ipoh, as part of ongoing efforts to explore innovative and sustainable construction materials for infrastructure development in Sarawak.
The visit provided an opportunity for delegation to gain insights into advanced composite technologies and modern manufacturing processes adopted by DURA, whose products are recognised for their durability, corrosion resistance and cost efficiency.
During the visit, the delegation was briefed about DURA products and their success in various infrastructure project, including bridges and industrial facilities.
The session also included a technical walkthrough of the production line, showcasing the company’s capabilities in delivering high-performance and sustainable construction solutions.
DURA products contribute to lower carbon emissions through their durability and reduced lifecycle maintenance, supporting greener and more sustainable infrastructure development.
In his remarks, Dato Sri Dr Muhammad Abdullah emphasised the importance of embracing innovation to ensure that Sarawak’s infrastructure development remains sustainable, cost-effective, and resilient, particularly in addressing the unique geographical and environmental challenges faced by the state.
He further noted that the collaboration between state agencies and industry players is essential in identifying practical solutions that can be adopted in ongoing and future projects.
The visit forms part of a broader initiative by Sarawak Government to continuously evaluate and integrate innovative technologies that can improve efficiency, reduce costs and support the state’s long-term development agenda.
Accompanying him during the visit were Deputy Director (Asset) of the Sewerage Services Department Sarawak (JPPS), Ir Ts Annastesia Sulastri Salleh, Chief Executive Officer of InnoCement Sdn Bhd Suhadi Sulaiman, as well as relevant JPPS technical officers.
The delegation was also briefed by Founder of DURA Technology Adjunct Professor Ir Dr Voo Yen Lei. -UKASnews
