SSWFFB Invests USD850 Million In Global Assets, RM1.6 Billion In Domestic Bonds
KUCHING: The Sarawak Sovereign Wealth Future Fund Board (SSWFFB) has implemented the initial steps of its 2025 investment strategy by investing approximately USD850 million in global fixed-income assets and RM1.6 billion in domestic bonds.
Its Chairman, Tan Sri Datuk Seri Panglima Sulong Matjeraie, stated that this development marks the fund's transition from the foundational phase to the implementation phase, reflecting significant progress in its investment journey.
“These initial investments reflect our guiding principle of capital preservation, while gradually building a diversified portfolio over time,” he said.
He spoke during the SSWFFB Hari Raya Banquet, which was graced by the presence of the Sarawak Governor Tun Pehin Sri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar and his wife Toh Puan Datuk Patinggi Fauziah Mohd Sanusi at the Sarawak Legislative Assembly (DUN) complex on Wednesday.
SSWFFB has been accepted as an Associate Member of the International Forum of Sovereign Wealth Funds (IFSWF).
This places the fund within a global network of sovereign investors committed to high standards of governance, transparency, and responsible investment practices.
Tan Sri Sulong informed that 2026 will usher in a new phase for the fund, focusing on gradual portfolio expansion into global public equities and various asset classes, aligned with its risk tolerance and long-term investment direction.
This expansion will be executed in a planned and disciplined manner to ensure a balance between long-term returns and sustainable fund management principles across generations.
The ultimate goal remains to preserve and grow the long-term value of the fund for the benefit of future generations of Sarawakians.
Also in attendance were Sarawak Deputy Premiers Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan and Datuk Amar Prof Dr Sim Kui Hian, DUN Speaker Tan Sri Datuk Amar Mohamad Asfia Awang Nassar, Minister in the Premier's Department Dato Sri John Sikie Tayai, and other dignitaries. — UKASnews
