SPM Incentive Boosts Motivation For High-Achieving Students To Continue Success
MIRI: A total of 44 outstanding Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) students from Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan (SMK) Dato Permaisuri received incentives as encouragement to pursue further advancement in their education.
The ceremony which was held at SMK Dato Permaisuri Hall here was officiated by Miri City Mayor Adam Yii Siew Sang.
In his speech, he extended his congratulations to all students for their achievements which were attained through continuous effort, high discipline and perseverance throughout their learning period.
“Behind every excellent result are sacrifices, pressure and unseen efforts.
“This achievement is deeply meaningful and something to be proud of,” he said in his speech at the ceremony here on Thursday.
Additionally, the Pujut Assemblyman emphasised that the provision of such incentives is not merely financial assistance but also a form of recognition of students’ commitment in building their respective futures.
He opined that achievement in SPM should be viewed as a starting point to a greater journey and urged students to continue maintaining a strong work ethic and not to easily give up.
In the meantime, he also highlighted the implementation of the Free Tertiary Education Scheme (FTES) by the Sarawak government as an important initiative to expand access to higher education.
Adam Yii said the implementation of the policy reflects the government’s commitment to ensuring that no Sarawakian student is left behind in pursuing higher education due to financial constraints.
“Make full use of this opportunity and be bold in setting bigger goals while continuously improving your knowledge and skills,” he said.
He also stressed that Sarawak’s future depends on a knowledgeable and skilled younger generation, not solely on natural resources.
In this regard, he expressed hope that students pursuing their studies either locally or abroad will return to serve and contribute their expertise to the state’s development.
At the ceremony, one student achieved outstanding results with 9As, followed by five students with 8As, seven students with 7As, eight students each with 6As and 5As and 15 students with 4As.
