110,815 Individual Lots Successfully Surveyed As Of April 2026
KUCHING: A total of 110,815 individual lots have been successfully surveyed up to 30 April 2026 for the issuance of land titles under Section 18 of the Sarawak Land Code, as part of efforts to recognise Native Customary Rights (NCR) land ownership.
Sarawak Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan said the surveys involve an area of 132,414 hectares or 327,261 acres, for which land titles have been and will be issued.
“Through the New NCR Land Surveying Initiative implemented from October 2010 until 30 April 2026, approximately 1.23 million hectares or 3.04 million acres have been successfully perimeter surveyed.
“Of this total, about 966,440 hectares or 2.38 million acres have been gazetted as Bumiputera Communal Reserves (Agriculture) under Section 6 of the Sarawak Land Code,” he said.
He said this during his ministerial winding-up session at the 19th Sarawak Legislative Assembly (DUN) sitting on Wednesday.
The Second Minister for Natural Resources and Urban Development said since 2017, the surveying exercise has also focused on individual lots to expedite the issuance of land titles in gazetted areas.
He added that the surveying process is carried out based on applications and the readiness of the land claimants involved.
He also urged NCR land claimants to be present during on-site surveying works, clearly mark land boundaries and avoid disputes over claims to ensure the surveying process can be carried out more smoothly and efficiently. -UKASnews
