KUCHING: Sarawak is set to host the Borneo International Halal Showcase (BIHAS) 2026, which will take place in Kuching from 21 to 23 July.
Sarawak Deputy Premier and Minister for International Trade, Industry and Investment Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan said BIHAS 2026 will gather speakers, policymakers, industry leaders and halal experts from Malaysia, Singapore, Brunei Darussalam, Türkiye, Saudi Arabia, Brazil, Japan and Sri Lanka.
“BIHAS 2026 will serve as a strategic platform for the halal ecosystem encompassing sectors such as food and beverages, pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, logistics, tourism, Islamic finance, Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG), technology as well as digital economy solutions,” he said.
He said this during a press conference on BIHAS 2026 held at Wisma Sumber Alam on Thursday.
Datuk Amar Awang Tengah who is also the Organising Chairman of BIHAS 2026 said the event aims to strengthen halal trade and investment networks, expand market access for small and medium enterprises (SMEs) and halal entrepreneurs as well as promote ESG-driven halal innovation and solutions.
He added that it also aims to enhance talent development and capacity building while fostering regional and international collaboration in the halal industry.
Meanwhile, he said key highlights of the programme will include conferences, business matching sessions, a pitching platform for young entrepreneurs, halal food festivals and demonstrations, halal technology and ESG exhibitions as well as halal product sales for consumers.
Datuk Amar Awang Tengah said the event is targeting the participation of 20 international buyers and investors, 50 trade matching sessions, 100 exhibitors and 400 conference delegates.
The exhibition will be held at Kuching Waterfront Square, while the conference will take place at Waterfront Hotel Kuching.
