More Than 2,000 Visitors Enliven Gawai Dayak 2026 Open House Celebration
KUCHING: More than 2,000 people around Kuching enlivened the Gawai Dayak 2026 Open House Celebration held at the Unit for Other Religions (UNIFOR) Complex on Monday.
Sarawak Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas stated that the response received this year exceeded the organizers' initial expectations, consequently reflecting the spirit of unity and harmony that forms the strength of Sarawak's society.
"This reflects that Sarawak is the most harmonious state, where the racial and religious harmony we possess is hard to match by any other place.
"So this is what we must continue to build, protect, and preserve because with this racial and religious harmony, the Premier of Sarawak can focus his full attention on efforts to advance Sarawak," he said.
He said this when met by reporters during the event, which was officiated by Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri (Dr) Abang Abdul Rahman Zohari Tun Datuk Abang Openg.
Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah, who is also the Minister for Infrastructure and Port Development, also called upon the people to remain united and collectively contribute ideas and support to the government to ensure Sarawak continues to develop as an exemplary state in Malaysia and the Asian region.
Commenting further on the Gawai Dayak celebration, he informed that the Sarawak State-Level Hari Gawai Dayak 2026 Celebration will be held this coming June 21, while the Niti Daun Parade will be held on June 20.
According to him, the celebration is expected to be graced by the presence of the Sarawak Governor Tun Pehin Sri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar, Prime Minister Dato' Seri Anwar Ibrahim, and the Sarawak Premier. — UKASnews
