RM31,000 In MRP Funds Allocated for Simanggang Community Development
SIMANGGANG: A total of RM31,000 in funds under the Minor Rural Project (MRP) has been channeled to several community organisations in the Simanggang constituency.
Sarawak Deputy Minister for Education, Innovation and Talent Development Datuk Francis Harden Hollis said out of the total amount, RM5,000 was allocated to the Village Development and Security Committee (JKKK) of Rumah Rebi, Stumbin B, alongside RM3,000 to its women's bureau.
He said this while officiating the Ngiling Tikai ceremony at Rumah Rebi, Kampung Stumbin B here on Friday.
During the same ceremony, he also presented MRP checks totaling RM23,000 to four JKKKs within the Simanggang constituency, namely JKKK Rumah Inchang from Skirau Ai, JKKK Rumah Rebi from Stumbin B, JKKK Rumah Able from Stumbin, and JKKK Tawang Ili from Tanjung Bijat.
According to the Simanggang Assemblyman, the assistance is part of the government's continuous efforts to ensure community organisations have adequate resources to implement various social activities and community development projects.
Touching on the programme, he also emphasised the importance of maintaining the ngabang tradition in conjunction with the Hari Gawai Dayak celebration as a medium to strengthen unity and harmony among the multi-racial community in Sarawak.
He added that the Gawai Dayak celebration is not merely an annual festival, but also serves as an important platform to foster a spirit of togetherness and appreciate the cultural diversity that remains Sarawak's core strength. — UKASnews
