Special Teacher Empowerment Programme, An Educational 'Game Changer' For Kota Samarahan
KOTA SAMARAHAN: Deputy Minister of Rural and Regional Development and Member of Parliament for Kota Samarahan, Datuk Rubiah Wang, is planning to introduce a special development and motivation programme for educators as a new approach to elevating the excellence of schools under the Kota Samarahan Parliament constituency.
She said the initiative would mark a major shift in the area's education agenda by placing teachers at the centre as the primary drivers of a school's success and performance.
She noted that whereas previous programmes had largely focused on student development, including motivation programmes, academic enhancement courses, and examination guidance, this year's approach would emphasise strengthening teacher capacity and motivation.
"If previously we focused heavily on student achievement, this time we want to implement something more of a 'game changer' by empowering teachers, who are the main pillar in determining a school's excellence.
"We do not only want to see student performance improve, but also to strengthen teacher motivation and raise the overall performance of schools," she said.
She made these remarks after holding a discussion session with principals and Form Six teachers from schools under the Kota Samarahan Parliament constituency here on Saturday.
She noted that while a student's success certainly depends on individual effort and dedication, a school's excellence is largely shaped by the commitment, spirit, and unity of its educators in carrying out their responsibilities.
She added that teachers do not merely impart knowledge, they serve as mentors who shape character, build self-confidence, and mould the future of the younger generation.
In addition, she explained that the discussion session was convened to update current developments and coordinate the implementation of various education programmes planned throughout 2026, so as to ensure that the education development agenda in Kota Samarahan continues to be strengthened.
Datuk Rubiah expressed hope that close cooperation between schools, teachers, parents, and relevant agencies would continue to be reinforced, to ensure that every education initiative carried out delivers a positive impact on educators and students in the area. -UKASnews
