Sarawak Strengthens Digital Transformation Ties with Munich Via AI & Smart City Exchange
MUNICH: Deputy Sarawak Secretary (Economic Planning and Development) Dato Sri Dr Muhammad Abdullah Zaidel led a Sarawak delegation for a meeting with the Deputy Lord Mayor of the City of Munich, Mona Fuchs.
The meeting focused on the application of AI in public and local institutions, as well as the development of smart city solutions aimed at improving public service delivery and enhancing the quality of life for citizens.
Both parties shared insights on their respective digitalisation journeys, including Munich’s experience in leveraging technology to create more efficient, accessible and citizen centric public services.
During the discussion, the Deputy Lord Mayor highlighted that innovation in Munich is driven through a collaborative ecosystem involving government institutions, industry players, research organisations and the wider community.
She emphasised that technological advancement does not happen in isolation, but through strong cooperation among all stakeholders working towards a common vision of a digitally progressive city.
She further shared that Munich has been recognised as Germany’s Smart City for three consecutive years, demonstrating its commitment to utilising technology to improve governance and public services.
The sharing session also provided an opportunity for Sarawak delegation to highlight Sarawak’s own digitalisation agenda, including initiatives to harness emerging technologies, strengthen digital infrastructure and promote the adoption of AI across various sectors.
