1,238,159 Hectares Of NCR Land Surveyed As Of 31 May 2026
SIMANGGANG: The Sarawak Land and Survey Department (JTS) has successfully surveyed 1,238,159 hectares of Native Customary Rights (NCR) land as of 31 May 2026, compared to 1,217,766 hectares on 30 September 2025.
Sarawak Deputy Premier, Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan, said that of the total, 966,938 hectares of the NCR land involved have already been gazetted under Section 6 of the Land Code (KTN) as Native Communal Reserves.
"By 2010, the Sarawak Government had only managed to survey a total of 260,000 hectares of NCR land in Sarawak, before the New Initiative NCR Land Survey Programme was implemented in the same year.
"As a result of the implementation of this new initiative, the Sarawak Government has succeeded in surveying more than 1.2 million hectares of NCR land in the state in just 15 years," he said.
He said this when officiating the Presentation Ceremony of Section 6 Sarawak Land Code (KTS) Native Communal Reserve Gazettes and Section 18 KTS Land Titles for Sri Aman Division, on Tuesday.
Following this, he advised NCR landowners in the state to apply to join the New Initiative NCR Land Survey Programme if they had not already done so, for the benefit of their children and grandchildren.
He further said that most of Sarawak's younger generation today live in towns, outside their home areas, or abroad, and only return to their hometowns during festive seasons.
"Many among this group may still be unaware of the boundaries of their family's NCR land compared to the older generation, and if this is not addressed soon, it could create problems in the future.
"I therefore advise NCR landowners in the state to act immediately and apply to join this programme, so that their children and grandchildren know their land boundaries and disputes can be avoided in future," he said.
Also present were Deputy Minister for Education, Innovation and Talent Development Sarawak Datuk Francis Harden Hollis, Bukit Begunan Assemblyman Datuk Mong Dagang, Lingga Assemblywoman Dayang Noorazah Awang Sohor, Sarawak State Development Director Dato Jasni Jubli, Sri Aman Division Resident Mahra Salleh, JTS Sarawak Director's representative Sr Roslan Putit, Sri Aman District Officer Shariff Bujang, and Sri Aman JTS Superintendent Michaelson Nyisin.
Earlier, a total of 468 individuals from the Bukit Begunan, Simanggang and Lingga constituencies received 620 Section 18 KTS land titles at the ceremony.
The ceremony also saw a total of 72 Section 6 KTS Native Communal Reserve (Agricultural) gazettes presented to recipients from the Balai Ringin, Bukit Begunan and Simanggang constituencies. -UKASnews
