SPAOH: The PUBG MOBILE OOOHAAA Sarawak Activation Tour rolled into Spaoh on Saturday for its 13th stop, drawing esports enthusiasts, youth and local communities to Dewan Serbaguna Spaoh for a day of gaming, community engagement and competitive action.

The tour, an initiative by Tencent Games under the PUBG MOBILE community engagement programme, was organised by the Sarawak Esports Association (SESA) with support from Kelab Anak Bukit Saban and Sarawak Digital Economy Corporation (SDEC).

The stop featured a PUBG MOBILE tournament with a total prize pool of RM5,000, alongside interactive activities, mini-games and merchandise giveaways.

Gracing the event was Sarawak Deputy Premier and Bukit Saban Assemblyman Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas, accompanied by Member of Parliament for Betong, Dato Dr Richard Rapu.

In his remarks, Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah described esports as a healthy pursuit for youth, offering a platform for local talent to showcase their abilities on the global stage.

He commended SESA's grassroots efforts and called for continued collaboration among stakeholders to strengthen digital opportunities for Sarawakians, citing the MySRBN connectivity initiative under SDEC.

Also present were SESA president Afiq Fadhli Narawi, Kelab Anak Bukit Saban chairman Dr Louis Laja, and SDEC's Liew Fui Phin and Clay Lee.

The tournament saw 18 teams and 90 participants from across Sarawak compete for the prize pool. ZONE SQ emerged champion, taking home RM2,500, followed by Team Akatsuki (RM1,500), Legacy Rebel (RM400) and Team LMG (RM200).

MySRBN also ran an on-ground booth, engaging residents with information on digital connectivity services and promotions.

The tour continues at Dewan Masjid Baru Daerah Tatau (August 2), Fastcult in Miri (August 8–9), the Borneo Animation and Games Festival in Kuching (August 21–23), Dewan Sri Krian (August 22) and Batu Kawa Innovation Hub (August 30). -UKASnews
