Padawan Raft Safari 2026 Boosts Adventure Tourism, 95 Teams Registered
PADAWAN: The Padawan Raft Safari 2026, scheduled to take place on Oct 3 and 4, will further strengthen Padawan’s potential as an adventure, nature and community-based tourism destination through the unique experience offered by Sungai Sarawak Kiri.
Padawan Municipal Council (MPP) chairman Tan Kai said the event not only highlighted rafting activities but also served as a platform to promote the natural beauty, culture and local communities as tourism attractions.
He said the approach was in line with efforts to strengthen Padawan’s position as a tourism destination offering adventure, nature and community-based experiences.
“Padawan Raft Safari is more than just a rafting event as it serves as a platform to showcase the natural beauty, culture and communities of Padawan, while positioning Padawan as an adventure, nature and community-based tourism destination,” he said.
He said this during a press conference on Padawan Raft Safari 2026 at the MPP here on Thursday.
Tan Kai added that the Rafting Experience Day, to be held on Oct 3, would provide opportunities for first-time participants, families and adventure enthusiasts to experience rafting without having to take part in the competition.
Padawan Raft Safari 2026 is part of the Padawan Discovery Festival 2026, which will be held from Oct 2 to 6, featuring various sports, tourism, cultural and trade activities.
Meanwhile, Padawan Raft Safari 2026 Organising Chairman Tito Grabo Teyok said 95 teams had registered as of Aug 26, while registration remained open until Sept 2.
He said the competition featured five categories covering distances ranging from 15 to 40 kilometres, with total prizes worth RM20,300, including trophies. -UKASnews
