Teamwork From Relevant Agencies Help To Extinguish Bush Fire In Desa Senadin
MIRI: The bush fire in Jalan Ilmu, Desa Senadin was successfully controlled and completely extinguished within three hours due to the swift action of various agencies and the cooperation of four private teams that occurred on Sunday.
Sarawak Minister for Transport Dato Sri Lee Kim Shin said he received information from the public about the incident at about 5 pm before immediately contacting the fire department for further action.
“The fire department moved swiftly, and I would like to thank all parties who acted quickly to ensure that the fire did not spread,” he said during a visit to the location of the fire in Jalan Ilmu, Desa Senadin, on Monday.
According to him, the extinguishing operation saw cooperation between the Malaysian Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM), the Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM) and four private teams who helped supply open water sources from nearby water channels.
The four private teams involved were Team Naim Cendera, Team Kenyalang Smart City (KSC), Team Shin Yang (BaramVille) and Team Woodville Development.
The Senadin Assemblyman expressed his appreciation to the private sector who came forward to provide assistance regardless of self-interest to ensure that the fire could be brought under control immediately.
Dato Sri Lee said that close cooperation between the private sector and the government was needed, particularly in dealing with emergencies such as fires to ensure that action could be taken in a more timely and effective manner.
He said that the approach was notable as landowners and developers in the area concerned had their own equipment capable of assisting in the extinguishing operation.
Meanwhile, Senior Fire Officer I Amindra Lapiaman from the Lutong Fire and Rescue Station said that they received an emergency call at 5.41 pm before mobilising forces a minute later to carry out the fire extinguishing operation at the location.
According to him, the fire was successfully controlled at about 8.30 pm through utilising defensive and offensive extinguishing techniques. -UKASnews
