Sarawak, ADB Advance Technical Talks On Energy, Low-Carbon Development & Green Finance
MANILA: Sarawak and the Asian Development Bank (ADB) have taken their engagement to the technical level, with discussions exploring key areas in energy, low-carbon development and green finance.
The technical engagement followed Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri (Dr) Abang Abdul Rahman Zohari Tun Datuk Abang Openg’s Fireside Chat at ADB Headquarters here on Tuesday.
Discussions covered key areas raised during the Fireside Chat, including Sarawak’s energy agenda, the ASEAN Power Grid, Kuching Low Carbon Hub, climate and energy cooperation, alternative funding and green finance.
The engagement provided an opportunity for both sides to better understand their respective priorities, experience and capabilities, while identifying areas that may warrant further technical discussion.
Any potential cooperation arising from the engagement will be further assessed based on a clear purpose, scope, responsibility, timeframe, cost and expected outcome.
The technical session provided a platform to follow through on the Premier’s engagement with ADB and laid the groundwork for continued dialogue towards practical and outcome-oriented cooperation.
The Sarawak delegation included senior representatives from the Sarawak Financial Secretary’s Office, Economic Planning Unit (EPU) Sarawak, Sarawak Climate and Energy Diplomacy Unit (SACED), Sarawak Energy, Petroleum Sarawak Berhad (PETROS) and Development Bank of Sarawak Berhad (DBOS).
They were joined by ADB specialists from the relevant sectors. -UKASnews
