KUCHING: Integrity in the public service is not only about adhering to codes of conduct and preventing misconduct, but also encompasses honesty in ties among colleagues.
Sarawak Secretary Datuk Amar Mohamad Abu Bakar Marzuki said such values are important in fostering a conducive working environment and strengthening cooperation within an organisation.
According to him, personnel must respect one another, communicate honestly, share necessary information and offer constructive feedback regardless of rank or position.
“The working environment must be positive as this directly creates room for innovation and boosts motivation.
“When team members are motivated, they will also be more driven to innovate.
“Good relationships within a team also lead to clearer communication, smoother coordination and better decision-making,” he said.
He said this in his address at the Land and Survey Department Sarawak Innovation and Integrity Day (HIITS) 2026, themed ‘Innovating with Integrity, Delivering with Impact’, at a hotel here on Tuesday.
Datuk Amar Mohamad Abu Bakar said personnel must also be open to views and feedback, besides ensuring comments given to colleagues are honest, sincere and constructive.
He added that misunderstandings among colleagues must be properly resolved and not allowed to persist to the point of affecting teamwork.
He expressed hope that a strong culture of teamwork and a positive working environment continue to be fostered in support of the public service’s efforts to deliver the best possible service to the people. -UKASnews
