TikTok Challenge Brings Out Creativity Among Students & Public
KUCHING: The TikTok Challenge organised by the Sarawak Public Communication Unit (UKAS) in conjunction with Malaysia Day 2026 successfully brought out the creativity of students and members of the public through the production of digital content reflecting the spirit of Malaysia Day.
The competition featured three categories, namely primary school, secondary school and public, with five winners in each category receiving cash prizes, certificates, plaques and souvenirs sponsored by Affin Bank.
In the primary school category, Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK) Kuala Baram II emerged champion, taking home RM3,000 in cash.
SK Rumah Goyang secured second place with RM2,000 while SJK Chung Hua Sejijak finished third with RM1,000.
Two consolation prizes of RM500 each went to SK Sungai Klampai and Ma’had Tahfiz Tun Abdul Rahman Ya’kub.
Meanwhile, Kolej Vokasional Miri emerged champion in the secondary school category, winning RM3,000 in cash.
Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan (SMK)
Bandar Kuching No. 1 took second place with RM2,000 while SMK Tinjar received RM1,000 for finishing third.
SMK Semerah Padi and SMK BM Saratok each received a consolation prize of RM500.
In the public category, Erdy Azezy Sohardi was crowned champion, taking home RM3,000 in cash along with a certificate, plaque and souvenir.
He also received RM100,000 in Personal Accident Takaful coverage from Agro Bank.
Kalthoum Adni secured second place with RM2,000 in cash and RM50,000 in insurance coverage while third-placed Leonard Aaron Banggai Sandum received RM1,000 and RM50,000 in insurance coverage.
The two consolation prize recipients in the category were Muhamad Rahman Hakim Abdullah and Emaria Ahmad who each received RM500 in cash along with a certificate, plaque, souvenir and RM50,000 in Personal Accident Takaful coverage from Agro Bank.
Officiating the prize presentation ceremony for all winners was Deputy Minister in the Sarawak Premier's Department (Corporate Affairs, Information and UKAS) Datuk Abdullah Saidol.
Accompanying him were UKAS Director Awang Putrayusrie Awang Redzuan, Sarawak Arts Council Chief Executive Officer Dr Suffian Jalet, Dewan Bahasa dan Pustaka Sarawak Director Dr Azizul Ismail and other distinguished guests.
The competition demonstrated the potential of digital platforms as a creative medium for conveying messages related to Malaysia Day, particularly in encouraging participation among youths and the wider public.
It also provided participants with an opportunity to express their creativity by producing content that reflects the spirit of Malaysia Day. -UKASnews
