557 Solar LED Lights To Be Installed From Pan Borneo Junction To Kabong Town
KUCHING: A total of 557 solar LED streetlight units have been identified for installation along the stretch from the Pan Borneo Junction to Kabong Town, spanning approximately 37.7 kilometers at an estimated cost of RM3.62 million.
Deputy Minister for Infrastructure and Port Development Datuk Ir Aidel Lariwoo stated that the Public Works Department (JKR) Sarawak has identified specific areas requiring solar LED light installation, particularly sharp bends, intersections, bridges, and village areas.
“In addition to installing solar LED lights, JKR Sarawak is also taking strategic measures such as installing flashing warning lights, road studs, signboards, and road markings along the route to ensure the comfort and safety of road users,” he said.
He said this when responding to a question from Kabong Assemblyman Dato Mohd Chee Kadir at the 19th Sarawak Legislative Assembly (DUN) Sitting on Thursday.
He added that a total of 700 solar LED light units were installed by the Saratok District Council last year through allocations from the Betong Division Development Agency (BDDA), covering the stretch from the Roban Junction to Kabong Bazaar.
According to Datuk Ir Aidel, the installation of additional streetlights aims to enhance road user safety, reduce the risk of nighttime traffic accidents, and provide convenience to local residents. — UKASnews
