KUCHING: Sarawak now has the complete ‘ingredient’ to boost and strengthen the state’s economic growth.

The Premier of Sarawak, Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri (Dr) Abang Abdul Rahman Zohari Tun Datuk Abang Openg said that Sarawak’s efforts in regaining the state’s rights are bearing fruit now that Sarawak has a solid economic foundation.

“Our ecosystem (Sarawak) from the basic economic point of view already has all the aspects and foundations to move forward.

“We already have the energy, and what we need to do now is to be a strategic partner of both an organisation and an entity,” he explained.

He said this when met by the media at the 8th Sarawak Centre for Techology Excellence Sarawak (CENTEXS) Convocation Ceremony here on Monday.

The Premier of Sarawak added that the process of hiring another entity, which is the transaction of increasing the state government’s shares in Affin Bank, is also going smoothly.

“This year, Bintulu Port will be handed back to Sarawak in June, the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) agreement on providing subsidies for airlines has already been given and for Sarawak to have its own airline probably in the third quarter of this year,” he explained again.

Earlier while speaking at the event, he said the Sarawak government is currently studying a new formula to produce efficient high-tech farmers through a venture capital approach.

“If this happens, it means that our graduates will become farmers who use technology including machines and the government will build water lines well for planting rice and other crops,” he said.

In the same ceremony, there was also the launch of the CENTEXS mascots Probo and Probee, the exchange of MoUs between CENTEXS and their 12 strategic partners such as Universiti Teknologi Sarawak (UTS), Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (UNIMAS) and others, as well as the Presentation of Certificates to 1827 Graduates CENTEXS.
