KUCHING: The Ketek application made history as the first delivery service application to use Iban as one of its preferred languages.

The application as developed by a Sarawakian after being inspired by the Premier of Sarawak, Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri (Dr) Abang Abdul Rahman Zohari Tun Datuk Abang Openg following the ‘ketek ajak’ phenomenon that went viral.

According to its Chief Executive Officer, Nur Suhardy Yakop, because of that, this application is named ‘Ketek’with the hope of meeting the challenge to strengthen the digital economy in Sarawak.

This addition was made after taking into account the needs and distribution of the population in Sarawak, which on average consists of the Iban people, as well as making it easier for them to make reservations through the Ketek Application.

He said this while speaking at the Ketek Application Pre-Launch Ceremony which took place here on Saturday.

During the same event, the Co-Founder of Ketek Application, Qadafi Johari said, the delivery coverage of this application will cover the entire area of Sarawak including rural areas.

“For everyone’s information, we will start from Kuching to Lawas, including providing coverage in rural areas such as villages that have never previously received delivery service coverage like this,” he explained.

So far, the Ketek application has received favorable response from Sarawakians who are interested in becoming a sender or ‘runner’ for this new application.

It is understood that this application not only makes food deliveries but also makes other deliveries such as grocery items, pharmacy items such as medicines and packages from courier companies.

In the meantime, Nur Suhardy informed that this application will be developed and expanded to Sabah, Brunei Darussalam, Kalimantan and then to the states in Peninsular Malaysia. – UKASnews
