KUCHING: A total of 1,750 runners are set to participate in the IEM Engineers Run 2025 which will take place this Sunday at Petros, Batu Kawa, making it one of the largest turnouts since the event was first organised.
Chairperson of the Institution of Engineers Malaysia (IEM) Sarawak Branch, Ir Dr Angelia Liew San Chuin said the annual event, which is also IEM's flagship programme, will be officiated by Sarawak Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Professor Dr Sim Kui Hian.
“The upcoming event is the IEM Engineers Run 2025 this Sunday at Petros Batu Kawa. Approximately 1,750 runners this year, making it the largest participation since this event was organised,” she said.
She was speaking to reporters after paying a courtesy call on Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri (Dr) Abang Abdul Rahman Zohari Tun Datuk Abang Openg at the Sarawak Legislative Assembly (DUN) Complex on Tuesday.
During the courtesy call, Dr Angelia also presented a formal invitation to the Sarawak Premier to attend the IEM Sarawak Annual Dinner 2025 which is scheduled to take place on 19 December at the Borneo Convention Centre Kuching (BCCK) which is expected to gather around 1,300 guests.
She added that next year, Sarawak will also host the Federation of Institutions of Engineering for Asia and the Pacific (FEIAP) which brings together 23 member economies including Malaysia, Singapore, Australia, Hong Kong, Indonesia, China and a new member from Dubai.
She mentioned that another courtesy visit will be made to the Sarawak Premier early next year to present an official invitation and provide a detailed briefing on the FEIAP programme.
Also present during the visit were IEM Sarawak Deputy Chairman I Datu Ir Dr Cassidy Morris and the IEM Sarawak Branch delegation. -UKASnews
