Sarawak Premier Receives Courtesy Visit From Yayasan Hasanah
KUCHING: Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri (Dr) Abang Abdul Rahman Zohari Tun Datuk Abang Openg received a courtesy visit from a delegation from Yayasan Hasanah at the Sarawak Legislative Assembly (DUN) Complex on Tuesday.
The delegation was led by its Chairman Tan Sri Mohd Nor Yusof, accompanied by Trustee Dato Amirul Feisal Wan Zahir as well as fellow Trustee and Managing Director Siti Kamariah Ahmad Subki.
Speaking to the media, Siti Kamariah said the purpose of their visit was to update the Sarawak Premier on the progress of ongoing projects under the foundation, which operates under Khazanah Nasional.
“We currently have 43 projects in Sarawak worth a total of RM38 million, and we provided updates on these. They cover education, the environment, public spaces, the arts, and also our study on Sarawak rice which shows tremendous potential,” she said.
She added that all 43 projects in Sarawak are implemented through collaborations with 39 local non-governmental organisations (NGOs) involving the active participation of the ‘Anak Jati Sarawak’ community.
Siti Kamariah also briefed Datuk Patinggi Abang Zohari on the Khazanah ACE² Heritage Textile Fellowship which is being carried out in partnership with the Centre for Technology Excellence Sarawak (CENTEXS).
According to her, participants of the textile fellowship are currently in Türkiye, learning how to promote the work of Sarawak artisans, whose creations hold strong potential for entry into global markets.
She expressed hope for broader collaboration with the Sarawak Government, particularly on issues that require focused attention including carbon, plastic and sustainable energy which are closely aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals. -UKASnews
