KUCHING: The Sarawak Government, through the Sarawak Civil Service Digitalisation Unit (SCSDU) in collaboration with Sarawak Information Systems Sdn. Bhd. (SAINS), successfully delivered the SCS Cybersecurity Week 2025 from 1 to 4 December 2025.
The initiative underscores the State Government’s firm commitment to elevating cybersecurity awareness, strengthening digital competencies, and enhancing the overall cyber resilience of the Sarawak Civil Service in alignment with the Sarawak Digital Economy Blueprint.
The programme concluded with the flagship event, “A Session with Datuk Amar Sarawak Secretary,” held at the Waterfront Hotel, Kuching, represented by Deputy Sarawak Secretary (Economic Planning and Development), Dato Sri Dr. Muhammad Abdullah Zaidel.
The session brought together over 300 participants from Ministries, Departments, Statutory Bodies, Development Authorities, Local Councils and Government-Linked Companies, including Heads of Departments, Chief Digital Officers (CDOs), IT Officers, and Webmasters—demonstrating a strong collective commitment to safeguarding Sarawak’s digital ecosystem.
The four-day SCS Cybersecurity Week 2025 featured a comprehensive lineup of coordinated activities, beginning with statewide Cybersecurity Awareness Programme sessions conducted via Zoom whereby civil servants were equipped with essential knowledge on emerging cyber threats, responsible digital practices, and the protection of government data.
Concurrently, the Cybersecurity Essentials for Government Professionals Training Programme for officers (Grade N9 and above) was conducted physically, focusing on leadership roles in cybersecurity governance, incident response readiness, and adherence to state-level cybersecurity policies.
The programme culminated with the high-impact main event featuring expert-led presentations, strategic discussions, and the SCSDU Digital Excellence Awards 2025, which recognised agencies and digital leaders for outstanding achievements in digital governance and transformation. -UKASnews
