BINTULU: Regatta Bintulu 2025 commenced with an energetic start at Bintulu Waterfront, Pier 99 on Friday, gathering 17 teams competing across various categories throughout the four-day event.

The morning flag-off was officiated by Jepak Assemblyman, Iskandar Turkee, symbolising the official opening of this year’s regatta, which runs from 4 to 7 December.

The preliminary races held this morning showcased strong performances, particularly from the Bintulu Development Authority (BDA) teams.

In the 30 Paddlers Men (Local) Heat A, BDA (Perahu 2) secured first place, followed by another win for BDA (Perahu 2) in the 15 Paddlers Men (Local) Heat A.

BDA continued their momentum in the 25 Paddlers Bidar Heat A, again taking the top spot with their Perahu 2 crew.

Kelab Persatuan Anak Vaie made their mark in the 10 Paddlers Men (Local) Heat A after their boat, Vaie Bersatu Sekapan Matu, crossed the finish line ahead of competitors.

Meanwhile, BDA captured yet another victory in the 20 Paddlers Men (Local) Heat A through their Perahu 1 team.

The morning prize presentation was officiated by Assistant District Officer of Bintulu, Suzanna Indiat, who congratulated participants and winners for their dedication and sportsmanship.

The prestigious Raja Sungai event will take place on 7 December 2025, expected to draw even greater attention and excitement as the regatta progresses. -UKASnews
