SUZHOU: The visit by the Sarawak Premier , Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri (Dr) Abang Abdul Rahman Zohari Tun Datuk Abang Openg, together with his delegation to the Suzhou Industrial Park (SIP) Exhibition Centre on Friday opened a new window into how disciplined planning, effective governance and technological innovation can shape a world-class industrial ecosystem.
Accompanying him were the Deputy Minister for Utility (Sarawak Energy Berhad and PETROS), Datuk Ibrahim Baki, PETROS Chairman, Tan Sri Datuk Amar (Dr) Hamid Bugo; PETROS Group Chief Executive Officer, Dato Janin Girie, along with other members of the delegation.
From the moment the Sarawak delegation stepped into the exhibition centre, they were presented with a chronological showcase of SIP’s transformation into a global industrial hub that seamlessly integrates high-tech manufacturing, smart urban development and environmental sustainability.
A large-scale master planning model highlighted the balanced integration of industry, infrastructure, residential areas and green spaces, which forms the backbone of SIP’s success.
The briefing delivered to the delegation underscored SIP’s strengths in developing high-value industrial clusters, including semiconductors, biomedicine, automation, information technology and clean energy.
The delegation also paid close attention to the use of digital technologies and data-driven urban management systems that enhance the efficiency of public services, utility management and low-carbon urban planning.
This approach aligns closely with Sarawak’s aspirations to develop the Kuching Low-Carbon Hub (KLCH) as a catalyst for the state’s future economy.
The tour of the SIP Exhibition Centre was more than an exhibition walkthrough; it served as a strategic learning platform that inspires Sarawak to adapt global best practices to local needs, with the aim of building industries that are competitive, technologically advanced and environmentally responsible.
Following the visit, the Premier of Sarawak and his delegation held a meeting with the Mayor of the Suzhou Municipal Government, Wu Qingwen.
Also present were the Deputy General Manager of China Jiangsu International Group, Deng Yajun, along with the Secretary-General of the Suzhou Municipal Government, Xu Ben. -UKASnews
