42 Flood Victims Sheltered As Balai Raya Kampung Nangka PPS Activated
KOTA SAMARAHAN: A total of 42 flood victims from 12 households have been evacuated to the Temporary Evacuation Centre (PPS) at Balai Raya Kampung Nangka following flooding that affected the village on Friday night.
The situation at the PPS was monitored by a representative of the Samarahan District Civil Defence Force, Lt (PA) Mohd Zaidi Jili, who said the centre was opened at 7.30 pm after an official directive was issued by the Samarahan District Officer due to rising water levels that posed safety risks to residents.
The flood incident involved areas under the Kota Samarahan parliamentary constituency and the Muara Tuang state constituency, with evacuees comprising 14 adult men and 10 adult women, as well as six children, nine senior citizens, two infants and one person with disabilities.
To safeguard the welfare of those affected, the Social Welfare Department immediately distributed ready-to-eat meals and bedding supplies upon the opening of the PPS, ensuring basic needs were met from the outset.
On Saturday, registration of disaster victims was carried out through the myIBJKM application, alongside the distribution of breakfast and beverages to all evacuees housed at the centre.
The PPS operations are being managed by two Social Welfare Department officers, Nurul Earliana and Dayang Fatimah, with support from multiple agencies and volunteers to ensure smooth operations and the safety of all occupants.
Agencies involved include the Social Welfare Department, Civil Defence Force, Royal Malaysia Police, RELA and Social Welfare Department volunteers, working together to maintain order and provide continuous assistance.
As of 10.35 am on Saturday, all evacuees were reported to be in stable condition, with the situation remaining under control and closely monitored by the relevant authorities. -UKASnews
