Serian & Siburan Health Clinics Opened, Increasing Community Health Access
SIBURAN: The government continues to strengthen the country's primary healthcare system with the opening of the Serian Health Clinic and the Siburan Health Clinic on Thursday.
The opening ceremony was officiated by the Minister of Health Malaysia, Datuk Seri Dr Dzulkefly Ahmad.
The ceremony marked an important milestone in efforts to expand access to quality health services, especially to rural residents and developing areas in Sarawak.
The construction of the Serian Health Clinic and the Siburan Health Clinic also symbolises the government's commitment that health is a trust and right of every citizen regardless of geographical location.
The two Type 3 Health Clinics are designed as modern One-Stop Centres that can accommodate up to 500 patients a day, thus helping to reduce congestion at the main hospital.
The Serian Health Clinic now functions as a major hub that brings together various health services under one roof including X-Ray facilities, medical laboratories and rehabilitation services.
Meanwhile, the Siburan Health Clinic provides value-added services such as One-Stop Addiction Treatment Centre (OSCA) as well as palliative and domiciliary care, in line with the evolution of primary healthcare towards a more holistic and community-focused approach.
The Serian Health Clinic was developed at a cost of approximately RM23.9 million involving a building area of approximately 2,790 square metres and designed to accommodate between 300 and 500 patients per day, with service coverage for more than 85,000 residents of the Serian District.
Meanwhile, the Siburan Health Clinic involved a development cost of approximately RM28.7 million with an equivalent service capacity and is expected to benefit nearly 81,000 residents in the surrounding area.
The opening ceremony was also attended by Deputy Minister of Health Malaysia, Dato Hanifah Hajar Taib, Deputy Minister of Public Health, Housing and Local Government Sarawak (Public Health and Housing), Datuk Michael Tiang Ming Tee, Deputy Secretary-General (Finance), Dato Sri Zahrul Hakim Abdullah, Deputy Director-General of Health (Public Health), Dr. Ismuni Bohari, Sarawak Health Director, Dr Veronica Lugah and senior management of the Ministry of Health Malaysia and the Sarawak Health Department.-UKASnews
