Various High-Impact Projects Drive Sarikei's Development
SARIKEI: The implementation of various high-impact projects by the Sarawak Government continues to provide great benefits to the people in this district, thus ensuring that development can be enjoyed comprehensively by all levels of society.
Deputy Minister of Plantations and Commodities and Member of Parliament for Sarikei, Dato’ Sri Huang Tiong Sii, said that the initiative reflects the government’s continued commitment to strengthening physical and social development in urban and rural areas.
According to him, among the major projects that are currently and have been implemented include the Sarikei–Tanjung Manis Road Project and the Rural Transformation Project (RTP) which involves upgrading school facilities, temples, churches, longhouses and various community infrastructure.
“Each project implemented does not just improve physical infrastructure, but also opens up space for more active involvement of the local community in local development,” he said.
He said this when officiating the 2026 Chinese New Year Celebration Ceremony here, on Friday.
Meanwhile, Dato’ Sri Huang assured that the government will continue to maintain the momentum of development through various strategic initiatives that can increase economic opportunities and the social well-being of the people.
He said the main focus includes the development of educational facilities, support for community activities and the provision of infrastructure that supports the daily needs of the residents.
“This planned and inclusive development will not only improve the standard of living of the people, but will also strengthen the spirit of unity among the local community,” he added.-UKASnews
