Public Urged To Take Advantage Of Government Initiatives
BINTULU: The public is urged to take full advantage of the various initiatives and assistance provided by the government to improve their well-being and reduce the development gap.
Sarawak Public Communication Unit (UKAS) Director Awang Putrayusrie Awang Redzuan said there are still various facilities in the fields of welfare and education yet to be requested by the people.
According to him, the role of community leaders, non-governmental organisations (NGOs) and government agencies is crucial in ensuring assistance related information reaches those in need.
"Assistance has been provided, but many have not applied due to lack of information.
"Therefore, all parties need to play a role in disseminating this information," he said when speaking at the ‘Juh Ngopi Ngan UKAS’ Programme in Tatau on Thursday.
He stressed that the grassroots approach allows the government to hear the people's voices and identify the real needs of the community.
In addition, Awang Putrayusrie also reminded the community to use social media prudently and not be easily influenced by unverified information.
The spread of fake news, manipulated images or videos, including using artificial intelligence (AI) technology, can cause confusion and affect community harmony.
"The public needs to check the validity of information before believing and disseminating it so as not to cause misunderstandings," he said.
He also expressed hope that this ongoing effort would ensure that no group was left out of enjoying the facilities provided by the government, in addition to strengthening unity among the community. -UKASnews
