Sarawak Government Approves 15 Acres Land To Build 60 Additional RSP SPK Units
KUCHING: The Sarawak Government has approved 15 acres of land to build 60 more units of Rumah Spektra Permata (RSP) under the Santubong Village Expansion Scheme (SPK) to meet the high demand from local residents.
Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri (Dr) Abang Abdul Rahman Zohari Tun Datuk Abang Openg said the approval was made after taking into account the number of applications which exceeded the existing units that have been built so far.
“We have approved, in principle, 15 acres. Not far from the mosque and we will develop 60 more units. This means that the total number is 120 units,” he said.
He said this when met by the media after the key handover ceremony of Rumah Spektra Permata (RSP), Santubong Village Expansion Scheme (SPK), Kuching on Friday.
According to the Sarawak Premier, there are currently about 200 applications recorded by the Housing Development Corporation (HDC), but only 60 units are available.
In addition, he also informed that the development of housing projects in the Santubong area will continue due to the Sarawak Government's planning.
He explained that with the completion of the new road connecting Buntal and Bako by the end of this year, it will open up more land for the development of housing projects in the nearby areas.
"I expect that we can add between 500 to 1,000 units with the completion of the road," he said.
Also present was the Sarawak Deputy Premier who is also the Minister of Public Health, Housing and Local Government, Datuk Amar Professor Dr Sim Kui Hian, Deputy Minister in the Sarawak Premier's Department (Project Coordinator for the Regional Development Agencies, North Kuching City Commission (DBKU) and Islamic Affairs cum Pantai Damai Assemblyman Datuk Dr Abdul Rahman Junaidi, HDC Chairman and Balingian Assemblyman Abdul Yakub Arbi, HDC Chief Executive Officer Fathi Hambali and other dignitaries. -UKASnews
