Public Urged To Stop Vandalism, Preserve City Aesthetics
KUCHING: The public is called upon to preserve public facilities and the city’s beauty to ensure that beautification efforts are not marred by acts of vandalism.
Sarawak Minister of Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts Dato Sri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah stated that urban aesthetic developments, including the installation of neon lighting and murals, are strategic initiatives to enhance the image and appeal of Kuching.
According to him, every project implemented by local authorities, including the Kuching North City Commission (DBKU), involves meticulous planning and high costs for the comfort of residents and tourists alike.
“As the city continues to develop with various vibrant features, we truly hope that residents can work together to protect these facilities from any acts of vandalism.
“Vandalism not only spoils the view, but the process of repairing the damage also requires a significant allocation of funds and a considerable amount of time to complete,” he said when met by the media on Sunday.
He added that a high level of civic awareness is essential to ensure the sustainability of urban development can be enjoyed in the long term.
In this regard, the public is urged to be more mindful of the cleanliness and safety of public infrastructure to ensure that Kuching remains a beautiful, comfortable, and competitive city.-UKASnews
