Ibu Pertiwi Flag-Raising Ceremony Bolsters State Patriotism
KUCHING: The ceremony of raising the Ibu Pertiwi flag at Dataran Ibu Pertiwi continues to serve as a platform to bolster state patriotism and strengthen the 'Sarawak First' identity among the community.
Sarawak Minister for Education, Innovation and Talent Development Dato Sri Roland Sagah Wee Inn said the programme is organised by the Commission of the City of Kuching North (DBKU) as the authority managing the area, and is held periodically every month, subject to weather conditions.
“This morning, we are holding the Sarawak flag-raising ceremony at Dataran Ibu Pertiwi. This is a ceremony held every month, weather permitting.
“The objective is to uplift the spirit of us Sarawakians, and on this occasion, it is the turn of the Ministry of Education, Innovation and Talent Development Sarawak (MEITD) to be involved,” he said when met by reporters after the event on Sunday.
According to Dato Sri Roland Sagah, the presence of officials and representatives from various agencies under the ministry provides an opportunity for the public, especially students, to observe closely the state government's efforts in developing the education sector.
He added that the programme also opens up space for schools to understand the ministry's role in planning and implementing the state’s education development initiatives.
Also present during the ceremony were the Deputy Minister for Education, Innovation and Talent Development Datuk Francis Harden Hollis, Deputy Minister for Energy and Environmental Sustainability Datuk Dr Hazland Abang Hipni, DBKU Mayor Dato Hilmy Othman and other invited dignitaries. - UKASnews
