Implementation Of 3R Ramadan Bazaar Practices In Line With Sarawak Government’s Call
KUCHING: The implementation of 3R practices, namely 'Reuse, Reduce, Recycle' at the Ramadan Bazaar under the management of the Kuching North City Commission (DBKU) in line with the call of the Sarawak Government to preserve the environment.
Chief Political Secretary to the Premier of Sarawak, Dato Fazzrudin Abdul Rahman, said that the Sarawak Premier, Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri (Dr) Abang Abdul Rahman Zohari Tun Datuk Abang Openg has always emphasised this matter.
"The Premier has always emphasised matters related to sustainability, not only in the industrial sector but the DBKU has introduced these 3Rs for the food and beverage sector," he said.
He said this when met by reporters after officiating the Opening Ceremony of the Semarak Ramadan Bazaar, here, on Friday.
It is understood that this waste will later be channeled to the state's compost centre.
Commenting on the congestion at the bazaar, Dato Fazzrudin, who is also Tupong Assemblyman, explained that his party had discussed with DBKU to find a new parking lot.
"I discussed with DBKU to identify nearby sites that are suitable for parking so that it is easy for visitors to come and visit the shops," he added.
The Semarak Ramadan Bazaar operates from 19 February to 20 March 2026, starting at 2 pm to 7 pm every day.
This year, a total of 40 hawkers are involved, consisting of 30 Semarak Kiosk Hijau hawkers and 10 Semarak Hawker Center hawkers.
Also present were DBKU Mayor Dato Hilmy Othman and DBKU Director Ramzi Abdillah. -UKASnews
