KUCHING: A Temporary Relief Centre (PPS) has been activated in the Kuching Division following flooding that affected several areas as of 12 noon on Saturday.

The Sarawak State Disaster Management Committee (JPBNS) reported that, to date, only one PPS has been opened to accommodate affected victims.

The PPS at Masjid Darul Istiqlaal, Kampung Sungai Maong, is currently operating as a relocation centre for residents impacted by rising water levels.

The Social Welfare Department (JKM) informed that its officers would proceed to the location to ensure all evacuees are registered in the InfoBencana system, thereby facilitating the coordination of assistance and the monitoring of their welfare.

Members of the public are advised to remain alert to instructions issued by the authorities and to take the necessary safety precautions should weather conditions and water levels continue to rise.
