Shoplot Inspected For Unauthorised Pet Grooming & Boarding Operation
KUCHING: An inspection was carried out at a shoplot along Jalan Datuk Bandar Mustapha following complaints from nearby residents over alleged disturbances caused by unauthorised pet grooming and boarding activities.
Kuching South City Council (MBKS) Mayor Dato Wee Hong Seng led the operation together with MBKS councillors and enforcement officers after receiving reports of persistent barking, foul odours and hygiene issues affecting the surrounding commercial area.
Checks conducted on site confirmed that the council does not issue licences for pet grooming and boarding operations at the premises in question.
Subsequently, the council issued a formal notice under Section 113 of the Local Authorities Ordinance, 1996, directing the operator to abate the nuisance and take the necessary remedial measures to prevent further disturbance to neighbouring businesses and occupants.
Dato Wee stressed that full compliance with local authority regulations is compulsory, adding that enforcement action will be taken against any party found to be in breach of the law.
Businesses, he said, must operate responsibly and ensure their activities do not compromise public health, sanitation or the peace of the surrounding community.
He further noted that non-compliance with the notice constitutes an offence under the Ordinance and, upon conviction, offenders may face a fine of up to RM2,000, imprisonment of up to six months, or both.
The council, he added, remains committed to protecting community wellbeing and ensuring Kuching South continues to be clean, safe and orderly through firm but fair enforcement. -UKASnews
