KUCHING: Sarawak Governor Tun Pehin Sri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar and Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri (Dr) Abang Abdul Rahman Zohari Tun Datuk Abang Openg graced the Sungkei Perdana 2026 which was held at the Astana Negeri Sarawak Surau, Petra Jaya on Wednesday.

The Sarawak Premier arrived at around 6.40 pm and was accompanied by his daughter Dayang Norjihan Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri (Dr) Abang Abdul Rahman Zohari.

This was followed by the arrival of the Sarawak Governor with his wife, Toh Puan Datuk Patinggi Fauziah Mohd Sanusi at around 6.50 pm.

Upon arrival, the two guests of honour along with other dignitaries broke their fast followed by performing the obligatory Maghrib prayer along with other Muslim dignitaries.

Present at the ceremony were Sarawak Deputy Premiers Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas and Datuk Amar Professor Dr Sim Kui Hian, Sarawak Legislative Assembly Speaker Tan Sri Datuk Amar Mohamad Asfia Awang Nassar, Minister for Youth, Sports and Entrepreneur Development Dato Sri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah, Minister for Women, Early Childhood and Community Wellbeing Development Dato Sri Fatimah Abdullah, Sarawak Minister for Transport Dato Sri Lee Kim Shin, Deputy Ministers, heads of departments and other dignitaries.

After enjoying the fast breaking meal, the dignitaries continued to perform the Isyak prayer and continued with the Tarawih sunnah prayer before the event ended with a moreh feast. -UKASnews
