PETRONAS Reaches Out To Bekenu Residents Through Memacu Kehidupan: Hari Raya Aidilfitri Programme
BEKENU: Petroleum Nasional Berhad (PETRONAS) continues its corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiative through the organisation of the Memacu Kehidupan: Hari Raya Aidilfitri Programme 2026 held at the Sibuti Arena, Bekenu, on Tuesday.
The programme organised by PETRONAS Sarawak, Miri was officiated by Deputy Minister for Women, Early Childhood and Community Wellbeing Development Datuk Rosey Yunus with the presence of some 150 local residents.
In her opening speech, Datuk Rosey called for culture, customs and traditions to continue to be strengthened in order to unite the community in its diversity of ethnicities.
She expressed appreciation for the presence of the leaders of the Chinese and Iban communities in addition to the presence of the Muslim community in enlivening the event.
“The Subis District was chosen as the location for the distribution of basic goods baskets to recipients in need, positively impacting the rural and interior communities. Thank you to PETRONAS for always being committed to helping the local community,” she said.
According to the Bekenu Assemblywoman, although PETRONAS is known as an oil and gas company, the company’s commitment to implementing corporate social responsibility through welfare programmes proves its ongoing compassion in sharing blessings with the community, especially during the month of Ramadan.
Meanwhile, PETRONAS Carigali Sdn Bhd (Sarawak Asset) General Manager Abang Ahmad Zaidi Abg Seruji stressed that the Memacu Kehidupan: Hari Raya Aidilfitri Programme is part of the company’s ongoing initiative in supporting the local community, especially during the festive season.
“In conjunction with Aidilfitri this year, 250 baskets of basic food items and festive biscuits were distributed to families and individuals in need around Bekenu.
“In addition, more than 200 baskets of food were previously distributed in Niah and Bekenu in conjunction with Chinese New Year,” he explained.
Among the programme contents included the symbolic handover of basic necessities to recipients as well as a breaking-of-fast event with the local community.
The programme reflects the spirit of kinship and compassion in ensuring that the joy of Aidilfitri can be felt by all levels of society in the Subis District. -UKASnews
