KUCHING: Women continue to play an important role as the pillar of the formation of strong families as well as a harmonious and prosperous society.
In this regard, Sarawak Governor Tun Pehin Sri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar and his wife, Toh Puan Datuk Patinggi Fauziah Mohd Sanusi wished all women in Malaysia, particularly in Sarawak, a Happy International Women’s Day on Sunday.
According to him, women are very exceptional people in life and play various important roles, whether as mothers, wives, children, family leaders or leaders in society.
"Women play a crucial role in forming strong family institutions, thus contributing to building a stable, harmonious and prosperous society," he said in a statement in conjunction with the celebration.
Meanwhile, he also shared personal experiences that greatly shaped his understanding of women's personalities and instincts, starting with the guidance of his mother, followed by the presence of a disciplined and modest wife who has given birth to three daughters.
The Sarawak Governor further said that the presence of his wife, who is always loving and a loyal friend, is a source of strength and inspiration in every step of his life's journey and the responsibilities he shoulders.
He also expressed hope that the celebration of International Women's Day would act as a reminder to all parties to continue to appreciate the services, sacrifices and dedication of women.
At the same time, Tun Pehin Sri Dr Wan Junaidi emphasised the importance of ensuring that women are always respected and empowered in joint efforts to build a better future for the state and country. -UKASnews
