Ihya Ramadan Camp Shapes Leadership Of Young Generation
KUCHING: The 11th Ihya Ramadan Camp 2026 Series, which brings together school students around Kuching, serves as an important platform in efforts to shape the leadership and character of the young generation based on religious values.
Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Amar Fadillah Yusof said that such programmes should continue to be supported because they can foster the identity and leadership of young people from an early age.
In this regard, he announced an allocation of RM60,000 to support the organisation of the programme next year.
“Programmes like this are very important because the future leadership lies with the young generation. If we have charismatic young people, then our hope for the future will be brighter.
“As the saying goes, ‘melentur buluh biarlah dari rebungnya’ (inculcating good values should start at an early age). Therefore, we need to form the foundation of leadership and good values from the very beginning,” he said.
He said this when speaking at the 11th Series of Ihya Ramadan Camp 2026 Closing Ceremony held at CENTEXS Kuching, on Sunday.
The three-day and two-night camp involved the participation of 96 students from 10 schools around Kuching with a programme involving spiritual and personality development.
Explaining further, the Petra Jaya Member of Parliament said that in the era of technological advancement, the younger generation needs to be strengthened with religious values and the formation of good character so that they can face current challenges.
Datuk Amar Fadillah added that leadership is not only related to position, but rather begins with an individual's ability to lead themselves before influencing others towards the good in the family, community and nation.
Also present during the ceremony were General Manager of Tabung Baitulmal Sarawak (TBS) Datu Abang Mohd Shibli Abang Mohd Nailie and the Director of Ihya Ramadan Camp 2026 Programme who is also Chairman of the Pertubuhan Sahabat Amal Negeri Sarawak Wan Lukmanhakim Wan Sajali. -UKASnews
