SCOPE Organises SST 2026 Updates & Compliance Workshop To Strengthen Business Readiness
KUCHING: The Sarawak Centre of Performance Excellence (SCOPE) will be organising the “SST 2026 Updates and Compliance Workshop” on 23 April 2026 at the SCOPE Training Room, aimed at helping businesses stay updated with the latest developments in Malaysia’s Service Tax regime.
In a statement on Wednesday it said the workshop will provide participants with practical insights into the latest policy changes and compliance requirements following the expansion of the Service Tax scope in recent years.
Since the reintroduction of the Sales and Service Tax (SST) in September 2018, several revisions and updates have been introduced, requiring businesses to remain vigilant to avoid potential fines and penalties.
Participants will gain a better understanding of the latest developments in Service Tax, including newly taxable services, available exemptions, compliance requirements, and the latest policy interpretations issued by the Royal Malaysian Customs Department (RMCD).
The programme will also highlight enforcement approaches by RMCD, providing guidance for both registered and non-registered businesses on monitoring taxable activities and preparing for potential Service Tax registration where applicable.
According to SCOPE, the workshop is designed to support businesses, finance professionals, and tax practitioners in navigating the evolving SST landscape and strengthening their compliance practices.
As Sarawak continues to strengthen its business ecosystem and support the growth of enterprises, initiatives such as this workshop play an important role in ensuring companies remain informed and compliant with national tax regulations.
SCOPE remains committed to providing capacity-building programmes and professional development initiatives that support both the public and private sectors in Sarawak. -UKASnews
