Sarawak Premier Graces Khatam Al-Quran Ceremony & Grand Iftar With Islamic Agencies
KUCHING: The Khatam Al-Quran Ceremony and Grand Iftar with Islamic agencies added further blessings to the holy month of Ramadan when it was held at the Sarawak Islamic Complex Hall here on Wednesday.
Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri (Dr) Abang Abdul Rahman Zohari Tun Datuk Abang Openg attended the event, joining other distinguished guests in enlivening the gathering.
The programme began with the recitation marking the completion of the Quran, which was initiated by the Sarawak Premier with the recitation of Surah Ad-Dhuha, followed by the takhtim Al-Quran.
This was followed by the breaking of the fast and the Maghrib prayer before dinner was served.
After the meal, the Sarawak Premier and his daughter, Dayang Norjihan Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri (Dr) Abang Abdul Rahman Zohari, presented duit raya contributions to 50 asnaf and mualaf from the Kuching and Samarahan divisions.
Guests then proceeded to the prayer hall to perform the Isyak prayer, followed by the Tarawih prayer, before the evening concluded with a moreh gathering.
Also present were Minister for Youth, Sports and Entrepreneur Development Dato Sri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah, Sarawak Secretary Datuk Amar Mohamad Abu Bakar Marzuki, Deputy Minister in the Sarawak Premier’s Department (Project Coordinator for Regional Development Agencies, DBKU and Islamic Affairs) Datuk Dr Abdul Rahman Junaidi, Deputy Minister for Utility and Telecommunication Datuk Ibrahim Baki, Sarawak Attorney General Dato Sri Saferi Ali, Deputy Sarawak Secretary (Economic Planning and Development) Dato Sri Dr Muhammad Abdullah Zaidel, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Urban Development Datu Abdullah Julaihi, Sarawak Islamic Council President Datuk Misnu Taha, Sarawak Mufti Datu Khalidi Ibrahim, Director of the Sarawak Islamic Religious Department Mual Suaud, as well as other distinguished guests. -UKASnews
